However, the increase of technology and globalization has meant that food sold in mavin city is often produced in a different part of the country, or somewhere else in the world entirely (Halweil, 2002). It is now estimated that food travels 1,500 miles on sightly from when it is produced to when it is consumed. This includes food being produced on one side of the country and sent to the other, or being produced locally, transported to distribution centers a significant distance away and in the end transported back to local supermarkets (Prentice et al., 2010). Another estimation considers that food has changed hands at least six times between where it was produced and where it is sold (Kloppenburg Jr., Hendrickson, & Stevenson, 1996).For the food components that were part of my meals, the initial stages of these products would have been produced on agricultural or dairy farms. For example, dairy products would have been used in the production of the cheese, milk and yoghurt. The manufacturer (e.g. Yoplait) makes use of raw ingredients sourced from throughout the country and the world to create their product. Generally the manufacturer chooses suppliers that can produce a significant quantity, are reliable, and are low in price. The manufacturer may sell their product directly to suppliers, or may pass it on to a distributer. The distributer then sells the product to the store where it is to be sld to individual consumers, such as a supermarket. Review6 - Assignment ExampleAccording to this article, in 2050, there will be a point where we have to look at other areas that have thus far remained untouched and determining whether or not that portion of the natural environment that animals and birds live in will be destroyed simply so we have somewhere to grow consumable goods (Cassman). When looking at the article in Time Magazine, the author suggests that this topic of food versus biofuels is hot among environmentalists. Some know that we need the food to survive only when using these consumable goods as a source of energy is also environmentally efficient to store up fossil fuels that are non-renewable resources. This article amazingly suggested that corn as a biofuel is not really as efficient as people believe and that the corn could feed more people than it helps appear as a source of energy. An interesting perspective in this article suggests that there could be a plant that is grown that is non-consumable by humans exc lusively could be used in place as a biofuel instead. There would then be a balance as suggested by the research that erect that switchgrass was a better source of fuel than corn ethanol (Walsh). Looking at both perspectives and understanding what is already known, this is a problem that was addressed in both of these articles, five years ago. The problem has continued and there is still no answer. But who will fund the research to find an alternative? I think that the growing population will continue to the point where we are without enough resources but I do not believe it will put across in my lifetime. However, it is an issue that will be faced in the future and should be thought about

And in the process, it has caused trauma. The judge of the industrial court can appoint two assessors from a panel of assessors appointed by the concerned minister. To what extend does Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation Essay - 1
To what extend does Joint Commission International (JCI) Accreditation standards improves healthc are facilities(2) - Essay ExampleScientific enquiry or enquiry involves a series of steps that begins with defining the problems through proper investigations using a scientific approach and devise methods to reach a suitable solution. Experts submit divided this process of scientific research under eight sub-divisions. The first characteristic is purpose, which implies that every researcher should swallow a specific purpose for labor the research. This is the initial step that would enable the researcher to find suitable answers and methods to solve the problem. The next important requirement is rigor by which researchers need to be thoughtful and scrupulous during the research process in order to avoid any errors or bias that may affect the end results. The next requirement is testability by which a hypothesis should be subjected to proper testing processes after collection of the required data. Following the testing process the researcher should also ensure that the results obtained are replicable every time the research is conducted under similar conditions as this will ensure that the hypothesis is reproducible. The next requirement for any research is precision and confidence. precision ensures that the results obtained from the research are relevant to the hypothesis made and the confidence levels reveal the extent to which the results are correct. In addition to the above factors, every researcher should be objective in their research by which any subjective or emotional bias should be eliminated and the fill interpretation should be based on the data alone. Another important requirement is generalization of the study by which the study could be applied to any setting. Finally the study should also be simple to perform and understand rather than complex.(Sekaran, 2003). The following chapter begins with the definition of the research problem and then describes the purpose of this study, following which the study objectives are detailed and in turn the study setting is described. The research methodology that includes the sampling methods is explained and the types of data to be used, data collection and analysis are then explored. The contribution of the study is described finally. The method employed in the study is telephonic interview and use of an executive staff questionnaire with the IMC staff members. The IMC has entered into an agreement with the JCI, which has made it the first infirmary in Gulf to be involved with the acclaimed organization right from the inception of a project. 3.2 Research problem Following the implementation of the JCI standards within the TQM department, several manufacturing industries have shown marked improvement in quality in different sectors across the country. P.E Footballers Programme Essay Example for Free
P.E Footballers Programme EssayThe aim of the fittingness platform is to improve aerobic fitness (cardiovascular) A football player requires cardiovascular fitness to maintain a high level of fitness when competing for the full duration of a game-90 proceedings, a footballer moldiness maintain a constant and prolonged level of effort and work from start to finish. A high stamina level also helps with the game this is highly important to a footballer because if the cardiovascular performance is non at a high level the overall performance levels will decrease before the 90 minutes is up, to ensure this does not happen this programme designed for a footballer will hopefully increase the cardiovascular fitness levels and make a 90 minute match an easy work out. To show the comparisons between fitness levels before the programme compared to afterwards my 12-minute cooper run will be looked at and evaluations made to back up the other evidence for my fitness programme. If my coope r run results improve after the 2nd attempt, I will need to carry reasons why as with if my results are below my expectations of onward motion. In addition if between now and the dates of the fitness renders I receive an injury this will be interpreted into consideration, also alongside this at this moment in time my fitness level to begin with will not be at its peak cod to the football season having just started, however as before this programme is designed especially to improve a footballers fitness within a unique(predicate) period. I shall try to improve on my first score this will show that I am following a progressive overload during my genteelnessThroughout the programme there are a few key safety issues that need to be considered, these include ensuring the equipment used is safe and correctly set-apart out, for workout during the tour training section all of the bases with an individual activity will need enough space to ensure the task can be completed safely wit h no hazards concerning the positioning of equipment. At the same time the correct clothing must be warn so that there is no risk of injury towards other people and yourself. With some of the activities like the continuous training and the fartlek training the weather must be monitored to make sure that when sprinting for example the surface is not wet and slippery and the point of take off when running needs to be chose carefully on the correct surface and not when running around a corner but perhaps on a straight. All of these must be looked at so that each mode of training can be completed successfully. The final thing that could be looked at is if I have any injuries when attempting one of the three areas continuous, fartlek or hitch maybe I shouldnt push myself past the limit but still complete the exercises to prove my willingness and commitment. Each one of the areas within the programme will set up towards an improvement in fitness levels, the continuous training will provi de overload as your body is experiencing more running than before and will render used to that level of working out, the circuit training will help in all aspects of fitness as every part of the body is up(p) and your stamina levels are constantly rising because of this, the fartlek part gives a variety of sprints, jogs and walks which when referring to the S.P.O.R training principle gives specifity and also contributes to the gradual increase in fitness.Cardiovascular fitness is also known as cardiovascular stamina aerobic power or aerobic capacity, it is the ability of the heart and lungs to transport oxygen to the working muscles as quickly as possible when exercising. Therefore before I start I must determine my current level of cardiovascular fitness. For this training programme I will complete all 3 of the areas fartlek, continuous and circuit to ensure the principles of training are covered and I achieve maximum improvement through this.Cooper runThe cooper run consists of a 12 minute run around a 100 meter square circuit the idea for improvement in fitness is to achieve as many laps as possible within the time allowed, if on the first attempt I achieved 25 laps to say I have been successful and Improved my cardiovascular fitness the 2nd attempt at the end of the programme should see a clear difference in the two amounts of laps.To ensure I complete it properly I will stretch before the run and cool bundle afterwards to ensure my muscles are warmed up and will not be damaged when I start the run. In this test I must run as far as I am able to within the 12 minutes allowed even if I need to slow reduce it is important to continue moving so my amount of laps will not be affected. It is a maximal test that measures aerobic capacity (i.e.-must cover as much ground as possible in the time allowed) my fitness level is established according to the distance run to the established norms for the test. To complete the test properly I will require the following equipment.

Black Fly Beverage Company Essay Example for Free
erosive disappear Beverage Company Essay menacing Fly Beverage Company is a handsome beverage company based in London Ontario. The company has achieved recent achiever in the selling and promoting of their first alcoholic beverage, the cranberry/blueberry vodka cooler. The immediate success of this product presents two critical issues that the company must address. These critical issues are Black fly must expand its product mix in regulate to capture a larger market share in order to compete with larger established brands within the market place Black Fly must also address capacity issues that volition arise with an increase in demand or introduction of a new flavor Analysis. accredited Situation Black Flys cranberry-blueberry vodka cooler has been well received by consumers due to its natural tasting ingredients and no chemical sweeteners producing a bonus product different than subsisting similar beverages. The company now must take this opportunity to give their consu mers a nonher product to further explore the brand. Attempting to cover deeper within their current product forget not allow its customers to further explore their favorite brand of vodka cooler. This will cause Black Fly to go about to lose their customers to other competing companies that offer multiple products and flavors (see represent 9). Black Fly also must also address the companys capacity issues in order to allow them to meet the LCBOs average order film-time of seven days. At full capacity Black Fly is meeting the required lead time with minimal margin of error to account for delays, however, during the holiday season, which will occur as early as next month, the company will not be able to keep up with the increase in demand and will fail fulfill the LCBOs order in time (see exhibit 7).Options The first option available to Black Fly would be to expand its product mix with the assenting of a new flavor to compliment their existing cooler. The company will be able to take advantage of economies of scale through the current production therefore a minimal cost of $30,000 will scarcely be needed to cover development and merchandising fees. To cover this sign cost Black Fly will have to sell an extra 127 cases a month to break even, an increase of 10. 58% (see exhibit 2).It has been projected that adding another flavor to the product line could increase gross revenue by 50 to 75 percent. This projected increase in sales would produce an annual expected ROI of 373% and 609% respectively (see exhibit 5). If however sales increased by only 10% due to the risk of cannibalization of their original recipe then the expected ROI would be -5% (see exhibit 5). This increase in sales however will do additional strain on the companys current capacity (see exhibit 8). A second option to Black Fly would be the addition of a new specialty spirit-based product called Spiked crosspatch. This packaged ready to freeze cooler would be a non-competing product to th e already productive cranberry-blueberry vodka. An advantage to this product is that there is no other product similar to it out in the marketplace. The LCBO has also attached to sell 8,000 cases of the product over the quaternion summer months, which would produce revenues of $277,200 (see exhibit 3). Over this four month period this option will produce an ROI of 15% (see exhibit 6). To produce Spiked chalk the company however will have to purchase expensive machinery costing $500,000 and spend an additional $40,000 on merchandising and product development. To cover these costs Black Fly would have to sell an additional 7,585 cases of Spiked Ice (see exhibit 4). This may prove difficult as this new product is very seasonal worker producing higher sales in the summer months and potentially smaller sales in the fall and winter months, a time in which the LCBO has not committed to sell this product at this time. Another disadvantage to this option is the space that this new machiner y would occupy in the already small warehouse.Black Flys current facilities cannot produce Spiked Ice and the original vodka simultaneously which would result in Black Fly loosing monthly revenues of $23,641 (see exhibit 1). Recommendation It is apparent that Black Fly must attempt to offer a variety of products to enhance its product mix and to keep current customers from trying other flavors offered by other competitors. At this time the best way to proceed with this will be to launch a new flavored vodka to compliment the already successful cranberry-blueberry vodka. The low initial costs and economies of scale gained through this option will allow Black Fly to introduce this new flavor quickly and efficiently to capitalize sales during the upcoming holiday season. To help address the concern of future capacity issues it would be recommended that Black Fly hire two more part-time workers and to counting the production process seven days a week. This will be possible due to the ex pected high ROI associated with this option. This increase in production will allow the company to complete six full runs amounting to 3000 cases within the seven day lead time required by the LCBO ( see exhibit 10).In the future it will become necessary to upgrade to a larger facility and at that time it would be beneficial to begin producing Spiked Ice, however at this current time, given the companys limited time in the market, it is suggested that Black Fly only pursue the launching of a new flavor. After the company has received sales from the holiday season the company will then be able to better address the surmisal of relocating to a new warehouse and address their plans for Spiked Ice for the upcoming summer months.

Chokes depend upon the property of self-inductance for their operation. They force tabu be use to block vary current while passing direct current (contrast with capacitor). Common-mode overhaul coils are useful in a grand range of prevention of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from mogul allow draw and quarters and for prevention of malfunctioning of electroni c equipment.Types and constructionChokes used in radio circuits are divided into two crystallizees those designed to be used with audio frequencies, and the others to be used with radio frequencies. Audio frequency coils, unremarkably called A.F. drop deads, fucking have ferro magnetic iron consequences to increase their inductance. Chokes for higher frequencies (ferrite chokes or choke baluns) have ferrite nerve centers. Chokes for even higher frequencies have air cores. Radio frequency coils, (R.F. chokes), ordinarily dont have iron cores. In high power service so much heat would be produced in making and destroying the field in the core that the coil would burn up.Solid-state chokesSolid-state chokes (SSC) can manage higher currents than traditional chokes. It reduces the high frequency buzzing intervention when running under high electrical currentsChokes ExplainedGeneralA choke is the common name given to an inductor that is used as a power supply filter element. They are typically gapped iron core units, similar in appearance to a small transformer, tho with only two leads exiting the housing. The current in an inductor cannot qualifying instantaneously that is, inductors tend to resist any change in current move. This property makes them good for use as filter elements, since they tend to smooth out the ripples in the rectified potential difference waveform. Why use a choke? Why not just a big series resistor?A choke is used in place of a series resistor because the choke allows better filtering ( little residual AC ripple on the supply, which room less hum in the issue of the amp) and less electric potential drop. An ideal inductor would have zero DC resistance. If you just used a larger resistor, you would promptly come to a point where the emf drop would be too large, and, in addition, the supply sag would be too great, because the current difference betwixt full power produce and idle can be large, especially in a class AB amplifi er.Capacitor input or choke input filter? There are two common power supply configurations capacitor input and choke input. The capacitor input filter doesnt of necessity have to have a choke, but it may have one for additional filtering. The choke input supply by definition must have a choke. Capacitor input filters are by far the most commonly used configuration in guitar amplifiers (in fact, I cant think of a production guitar amp that used a choke input filter). The capacitor input supply exit have a filter capacitor now following the rectifier. It may or may not then have a second filter composed of a series resistor or choke followed by another capacitor. The cap, inductor, cap network is commonly called a Pi filter network. The advantage of the capacitor input filter is higher output voltage, but it has poorer voltage regulation than the choke input filter. The output voltage approaches sqrt(2)*Vrms of the AC voltage. The choke input supply leave behind have a choke immediat ely following the rectifier. The main advantage of a choke input supply is better voltage regulation, but at the expense of much lower output voltage. The output voltage approaches (2*sqrt(2)/Pi)*Vrms of the AC voltage. The choke input filter must have a certain minimum current drawn by it to maintain regulation. The voltage difference between the two filter types can be quite large. For ex capacious, assume you have a 300-0-300 tranny and a full-wave rectifier. If you use a capacitor input filter, youll get a no-load max DC voltage of 424 volts, which go out sag down to a voltage dependent on the load current and the resistance of the secondary turn of eventss. If you use the same transformer with a choke input filter, the peak output DC voltage will be 270V, and will be much more(prenominal) highly regulated than the capactor input filter (less variations in supply voltage with variations in load current). How to select a chokeChokes are typically rated in terms of max DC curre nt, DC resistance, inductance, and a voltage rating, which is the max safe voltage that can be use between the coil and the frame (which is usually grounded).DC currentIf you are using a choke-input filter (not likely, unless you are trying to convert a class AB amp to true class A and need the lower voltage, or if you are designing an amp from scratch and want better supply regulation), the choke must be capable of handling the entire current of the output tubes as well as the preamp section. Note that this doesnt mean just the deviate current of the output tubes, but the peak current at full output. This usually requires a choke about the size of a standard 30W-50W output transformer, since the choke must have an air gap (just like a single-ended OT) to avoid core saturation due to the offset DC current aerodynamic through it, and the choke also must have a low DC resistance, to avoid dropping too much voltage across it, which will lower the output voltage and worsen the load re gulation. This combination of low DCR, air gap, and high inductance (more on that later) usually results in a whole sized choke. To calculate the required current rating, add up the full power output tube plate currents, screen currents, and the preamp supply currents, and add in a factor for margin. For a 50W amp, this may be 250mA.If, on the other hand, you are selecting a choke for a capacitor input supply (such as the typical Marshall or Fender design), then the requirements are relaxed quite a bit. The purpose of the choke in these type supplies is not for filtering and voltage regulation, but just for filtering the DC supply to the screen grids of the output tubes and the preamp section. The screens typically take around 5-10mA each, and the preamp tubes draw about 1-2mA or so (for the typical 12AX7 12AT7s are usually biased for around ten times that). This means that you can get by with a much smaller choke, and, in addition, the preamp supply current doesnt go away that mu ch, so you can get by with a higher DC resistance, which means smaller wire can be used to wind the choke, which means higher inductance for a given size core. Just add up the current requirements of the screens and preamp tubes, and add a bit more for margin. For a 50W amp, a typical value might be 50-60mA.DC resistanceFor a typical choke input supply, you need a choke with no more than 100-200 ohms or so DCR. A capacitor input supply typically might use a choke with a 250 ohm 1K DCR. The higher the resistance, the more voltage drop and the poorer the regulation, but the cost will be lower.Voltage ratingThe voltage rating must be higher than the supply voltage, or the breakup on the wire may break down, shorting the supply to the frame.Common Mode Choke TheoryA common mode choke may be used to reduce a type of electrical noise known as common mode noise. Electro-magnetic interference (E.M.I.) in the circuits environment is one base of electrical noise. E.M.I. induces or couples unwanted electrical signals into the circuit. It is desirable to filter out the unwanted noise signals without significantly affecting the desired signal. Environmental sources of E.M.I. often bring out an independent return path (ground path) for the electrical noise signals. The return path of the desired signal is a distinguishable path. Because there are two different return paths, a common mode choke can be used to significantly block (hence reduce) the unwanted noise signal (at the load) without significant reducing in the desired signal.A.C. power roues provide a good example. They are known to carry significant levels of electrical noise. Their long length gives environmental E.M.I. ample opportunity to generate unwanted electrical noise into the power subscriber lines. meet 2 illustrates an application without a common mode choke. The power line voltage, Vs, causes current, Iz, to prey through the load, Z. At any non-zero instance, Current Iz mixs into Z through one power line wire and returns through the other power line wire. E.M.I. voltage, Vnc1, causes current Inc1, to flow through the load Z. Similarly, E.M.I. voltage, Vnc2 causes current Inc2 to flow through the load Z. Because the E.M.I is generating both Vnc1 and Vnc2 the two voltages tend to be in phase. There is very little current flow between them. Current Inc1 does not flow through both power line wires. It flows through one power line wire and through the ground path. Similarly, current Inc2 does not flow through both power line wires. It flows through one power line wire and through the ground path. In this example only Vnc1 produces electrical noise across load Z because the Vnc2 end of Z is grounded. In practice, the effective ground point could occur somewhere between the two ends of load Z.Figure 3 illustrates the same application with a common mode choke. The common mode choke has two steers. Each winding of the common mode choke is inserted between the end of a power line wire and the load. As in Figure 1, current Iz flows through both power line wires and currents Inc1 and Inc2 each flow through one power line wire and return through the ground path. Observe that current Iz flows through both windings but in opposing winding directions, while currents Inc1 and Inc2 each flow through only one winding and in the same winding direction. The ground path does not flow through a winding. The inductance of winding A restricts (reduces) the flow of current Inc1 (when compared to Figure 1), thereby reducing the noise voltage across Z. Similarly the inductance of winding B restricts (hence reduces) the flow of current Inc2. Windings A and B have the same number of turns. The ampere-turns created by Current Iz (but excluding any Inc1 current component) flowing through winding A is sour by the opposing ampere-turns created by current Iz flowing through winding B. Ideally, the cancellation results in zero inductance and no restriction (no reduction) of current I z. Iz produces the same voltage across load Z as it does in Figure 1. In practice this will not be true. The common mode choke will have some leakage flux between windings A and B hence incomplete cancellation. Windings A and B will have some winding resistance. Both of these will have some effect on Iz (reduces Iz).In contrast, the load current Iz flowing through both windings A and B of the derived function choke shown in Figure 1 do not cancel, hence Iz will be restricted (reduced). Differential chokes are useful when the electrical noise frequencies are much higher than the operating frequencies. The higher choke impedance at the high frequencies block the electrical noise while having a decent effect at the operating frequencies. Some common mode chokes are intentionally designed to have significant leakage inductance. The leakage inductance acts in series with the load hence the leakage inductance provides differential noise filtering. One common mode choke functions like the combined chokes shown in Figure 1 but may differ in levels.Three-phase choke coil REOthree-phase chokeThe conventional output-choke has a very good storage capacity. It functions like a typical series inductance and smoothes the symmetrical, effective current and the asymmetrical, parasitic current. The voltage rise is limited to less than 500 V/s. The line to line voltage peaks at the motor terminals are lower than 1000 V. This solution attenuates the cable-conducted disturbance really well, even in the lower frequency range. The electromagnetic radiation from cables is rarefy considerably. Losses and typical motor noise, caused by harmonics, are reduced. Inductors in conjunction with capacitors and other component s form tuned circuits which can emphasize or filter out specific signal frequencies. Applications range from the use of large inductors in power supplies, which in conjunction with filter capacitors remove residual hums known as the Mains hum or other fluctuations from the direct current output, to the small inductance of the ferrite bead or torus installed around a cable to prevent radio frequency interference from being transmitted down the wire. Smaller inductor/capacitor combinations provide tuned circuits used in radio reception and broadcasting, for instance. Two (or more) inductors which have coupled magnetic flux form a transformer, which is a primordial component of every electric utility power grid. The efficiency of a transformer may decrease as the frequency increases due to eddy currents in the core material and skin effect on the windings. Size of the core can be decreased at higher frequencies and, for this reason, aircraft use 400 hertz alternating current rather tha n the usual 50 or 60 hertz, allowing a great saving in weight from the use of smaller transformers. An inductor is used as the energy storage device in some switched-mode power supplies. The inductor is energized for a specific fraction of the regulators switching frequency, and de-energized for the remainder of the cycle. This energy shift ratio determines the input-voltage to output-voltage ratio. This XL is used in complement with an active semiconductor device to maintain very accurate voltage control.Inductors are also industrious in electrical transmission systems, where they are used to depress voltages from lightning strikes and to limit switching currents and fault current. In this field, they are more commonly referred to as reactors. large value inductors may be simulated by use of gyrator circuits.Referenceshttp//www.aikenamps.com/Chokes.htmlwww.thefreedictionary.com/choke+coilhttp//www.butlerwinding.com/store.asp?pid=28349www.wikipedia.comwww.google.comwww.britannica.co m/EBchecked/topic/114020/choke-coil
